The nurse shook her head, then seemed to remember something. ‘There was a power outage during the delivery,’ she said, her voice uncertain.
‘It disrupted some of our equipment for a few minutes.’ The father’s eyes widened. ‘Could that have caused any mix-ups?’ he asked urgently.
The nurse shrugged, ‘It’s doubtful, but not impossible.’ This new piece of information added another layer to his growing unease.
