With their needs thoroughly met, the family left, all smiles and satisfaction. The whole affair was wrapped up neatly, each step choreographed to perfection.
As the door closed behind them, a sense of being utterly unnoticed washed over me. It was like I never existed at all, just a bystander to their show.
