Distracting Conversation
Not wanting to let her rattle me anymore, I turned to the guy sitting in the aisle seat on my other side.
He had headphones around his neck but seemed willing to chat. “Hey, I’m just trying not to lose it over here,” I joked, hoping for a little distraction.
He chuckled, nodding in understanding, clearly sensing my stress. His willingness to engage was a relief, cutting through the awkwardness Karen had added to the air.
