Strange surface
Frowning deeply, she crouched down low and pressed her open palm firmly against the wooden floorboards. The surface felt strange beneath her hand, uneven and almost flimsy at this particular spot.
Tugging carefully at the rough edges, she managed to lift a thick cardboard plate, then froze at what lay beneath.
