A smiling man
Adams blinked hard, as if the scene might change if he looked again. But it didn’t. Ernest was smiling, truly smiling, as though he’d just finished a pleasant chat with an old friend.
This wasn’t what Adams expected at all. The officer seemed unfazed too, like this was a completely normal outcome.
