Other officers in the station were all looking at Adams. They were sizing him up to assess if he posed a threat that needed to be arrested, possibly even spending a night in one of the cells to cool down.
The situation was tense and uncomfortable, and even Adams could sense that he wasn’t doing himself a favor.
