A Nighttime Walk
Giving up on sleep, I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Rachel. Darkness greeted me as I tiptoed out the front door, the chilly air hitting my cheeks.
The world outside was calm and silent. I needed air, space to breathe and sort through it all. The whispers of the night accompanying my steps as I set off down the street, trying to steady my heartbeat into a rhythm that made sense.
