I grabbed the radio, hands shaking slightly. ‘I’ve got a situation,’ I started. ‘There’s a polar bear in trouble.
‘ After a brief pause, my team responded, agreeing to send assistance. My description of the bear’s pitiful state seemed to spur them to action.
Relief washed over me, knowing I wasn’t tackling this crisis alone. I set the radio down, refocusing on the bear. Help was on the way.
