As a token of appreciation, the school and local authorities gifted Bill over $10,000.
Enough to clear some bills, upgrade his little apartment, and maybe take a small trip. But more importantly, it came with a heartfelt letter of thanks from the mayor, calling him “a symbol of quiet heroism.”
