The crowd’s murmurs grew louder. Some called Dwayne a coward. Others accused him of making a fool of himself. But despite the insults and confusion, Dwayne remained where he was.
He didn’t respond to the jeers, nor did he acknowledge his friends holding the crowd back. His focus was elsewhere.
