She Leaves Without Stopping
Deborah rolled the suitcases to the SUV, shut the front door, and clicked the lock. She backed out quickly, checked the mirrors, and waved at two neighbors near the mailboxes.
Without stopping, she turned toward the highway and accelerated past the last curve. The handyman loaded his gear, looked around, and drove away.
I noted the time and slid my car into the drive. The lane lay clear.
