The Deed I Wasn’t Expecting
Back inside, the clerk said one more item matched our indexing notes and returned with a thin sleeve.
She slid out a notarized transfer‑on‑death deed bearing Grandpa’s signature and the notary seal, but no recording stamp.
The beneficiary line listed my full name, not Deborah’s. My hands stayed on the counter while she logged the request and prepared certified copies.
When she finished, I placed the papers flat in the folio and signed the receipt.
