Taking documents
Before leaving, I took the suspicious documents with me for further investigation. I carefully stored the birth certificate, the enigmatic photograph, and several other items in an old, weathered suitcase I found in the basement.

Each piece was fragile, both in material and in the implication it carried. Climbing back up the creaking staircase, I felt like I was carrying pieces of my shattered identity with me.
These documents were crucial to understanding my past.
