Falling out
Apparently, my parents had a falling out with another relative years ago, but no one knew the details.
‘I remember hearing about it,’ one acquaintance recalled, ‘but it was like a forbidden topic.’ I made a list of everyone they might have had issues with, checking off names as I gathered more information.
This falling out seemed to be a pivotal moment in our family history—and possibly the reason behind my exclusion from the will.
