Guests started murmuring
Guests were already seated, murmuring amongst themselves about my father’s absence. I could see some of them glancing around, clearly puzzled.

Whispers floated through the air, disapproving looks exchanged. My mother sat near the front, her eyes filled with concern and understanding.
She gave me a small, encouraging nod, silently telling me to carry on. I squared my shoulders, took another deep breath, and prepared to walk myself down the aisle.
This was my moment, and I wasn’t going to let anyone ruin it.
