Pulled aside
Lucas’s parents pulled me aside, expressing their disbelief over my father’s choice. “How could he not be here for you?”
his mother asked, her voice filled with genuine concern. “It’s his loss, dear,” his father added, trying to console me.
Their kindness was a balm to my wounded heart. I appreciated their support more than I could express.
