To his shock, Alex discovered that Carlos had taken out several large loans over the past year. The amounts were staggering, much more than Carlos’s modest income as a retired school teacher could justify.
‘Why would he need so much money?’ Alex wondered out loud, showing the papers to Kelly. She stared at the documents, her face paling.
‘This really complicates things,’ she whispered.
