As soon as Mr. Jenkins saw the dog was turning to leave, he came to a halt and crouched down as he placed the food he had picked out the day before on the floor.
“Here you go, Buddy. You must be hungry,” he said with a gentle voice – very different from the way he usually spoke to the dog – and he stepped back.
