Empty Alley
Sarah and I combed the alley, searching for whatever Rocky sensed. We found nothing out of the ordinary—it was just an empty space.
“I don’t get it. Why’s he so worked up?” Sarah wondered aloud. Rocky’s determination didn’t falter; he huffed as if we’d missed something vital.
“I don’t know what he thinks is there,” I confessed. But the more Rocky insisted, the more I felt drawn to figure it out.
