Beneath the heavy hatch, they found exactly what they feared. Several rusted barrels, marked with chemical warning symbols, were stacked close together in the mud.
A foul-smelling liquid was already seeping out of one barrel, leaking through cracks and draining straight into the canal water. Clara and Jules took as many photos as possible.
