Telling lies
The clerk’s friendly expression faded quickly as Anna questioned her. She hugged the dress closer to her chest.
“Your dress? What do you mean, your dress?” the clerk asked coldly, as if the idea was ridiculous. “We’ve had this dress for months,” she said, her tone making Anna’s heart drop even further.
