Calm at her feet
The large armadillo stayed right beside Emma’s leg, completely calm now. Its earlier panic had faded, as if being freed by Emma had built a strange sense of trust somehow.
The animal let out a high-pitched squeal, this time not out of fear, but almost as if trying to get Emma’s attention and thank her at the same time.
